Spring is in the air, and while the winter weather has certainly been unusual this year, most of us are glad to see the arrival of spring. With the arrival of spring comes a flurry of activity. This month I will be participating in quite a few events getting the word out about how to safely and comfortably remain in the home of your choice throughout the course of your life. If you are considering aging in place as an option for yourself or a loved one, I encourage you to attend one or more of these events. I look forward to meeting you.

On March 8th I will be speaking and exhibiting at the 9th Annual Caregiver Conference and Resource Fair. The conference will be held at New River Community College in Dublin from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. I will be speaking on how smart home technology supports caregivers. Call 540-980-7720 for more information on the conference.

On March 20 I will be speaking at a workshop on planning for Aging in Place. The workshop will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the South County Library. Advance planning is a critical component of successful aging in place and this workshop will present important information on how to assess your needs and put together a plan so that you have the resources you need in place when the need arises. The workshop is being sponsored by Care Advantage, The Conner Group, The Western and Central Virginia Aging in Place Council, and the Roanoke County Library. For more information please call Rebecca Spaid with Care Advantage at 540-414-3226.

On March 23rd through the 25th I will be exhibiting at the 48th Annual Spring Home Show. The home show, hosted by the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association, will be held at the Salem Civic Center. Come out to the home show to get ideas and see vendors about everything related to your home. Whether you have a project in mind, are looking for ideas, or just want to get out of the house, the home show is a great destination. For more information call the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association at 540-389-7135.

On March 27th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm I will be exhibiting at the Vinton Senior Services Expo. Always a popular destination for seniors, the Senior Services Expo will be held at the Vinton War Memorial. Featuring entertainment, demonstrations, and door prizes as well as information and resources from vendors across the senior services spectrum, the expo has something for everyone.
